Skin cells can only replicate a limited number of times. For burn victims who need new skin this represents a challenge as it becomes hard to grow even a few centimeters of artificial skin. The more skin cells divide the slower they replicate and function. This leads to thin and frail skin grafts because telomeres wear out quickly during replication. Telomolecular nanotechnologies will make safe and economical the large-scale growth of higher quality skin grafts.
